A Different Kind of Fitness Assessment

Why are you doing what you're doing?

What is the reason (or reasons) that you spend so much time working out, thinking about working out, preparing for working out, or obsessing about your nutrition?

Are you a professional athlete?

Take a moment and think about your pursuit of fitness and how it plays into the rest of your life.

Does it occupy a prominent enough role? Or does it dominate?

  • Are you happy with who you are in the gym?

  • Are you happy with who you are outside of it?

  • Are you using your fitness in any way?

  • Or are you just getting fit for fit's sake?

Are you using your pursuit of fitness to more effectively deal with your life?

  • Or are you using this pursuit to avoid dealing with your life?

  • Are you at the gym because you don't want to go home?

  • Are you at home when you should be at the gym?

What are you doing with your brain? Your heart? Your mind? Your soul?

There are no correct answers here, merely questions you might want to ask yourself. Think about your fitness in the physical sense and in other realms, and assess what changes you should make, if any.
